Cosmo Cash & Carry is a chain of Asian and ethnic supermarkets in Spain, with 11 stores in Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Madrid. Its shelves carry Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Latin American and African groceries, and its online store at cosmocashcarry.com delivers to homes across mainland Spain and Portugal.
Ninja Softs redesigned the website and took on its local SEO and ecommerce SEO. The goal was simple to state and hard to do: help people find their nearest Cosmo store when they search on their phone, and help online shoppers find, trust and buy from a catalogue of almost 2,000 products. In the 16 months to October 2026, the site earned 24,200 clicks and 4.25 million impressions from Google search.

The challenge: one brand, many communities, two ways to shop
Cosmo serves very different customers, and each of them looks for groceries in a different way:
- Neighbourhood shoppers search on their phones for “Filipino store near me”, “halal grocery near me” or “cash and carry Barcelona”, and need the nearest branch, its address and its phone number.
- Online shoppers far from any store search for a specific product, such as a brand of basmati rice, a Korean noodle or a Filipino sauce, and want it delivered.
- Restaurants and bulk buyers want cash-and-carry quantities and prices.
- Many communities and languages: customers come from the Philippines, South Asia, China, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and search in English and Spanish.
The website had to work as a shop window for 11 physical stores and as a full online supermarket at the same time.
Part 1: Redesigning the online supermarket
A homepage that says what Cosmo is in one line
The new homepage opens with a clear promise: “Asian & Ethnic Supermarket Delivered Across Spain & Portugal”, followed by “Shop authentic Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese & Oriental groceries — from premium basmati rice to noodles, spices, sauces, snacks & rotis.” The free-delivery rule, “Free Delivery Over €60 Shopping in Mainland Spain and Portugal”, sits in the top bar of every page.
Below the banner, shoppers find a carousel of top categories, product rows for sauces and pastes, snacks and legumes and spices, a section of authentic Asian, Filipino, Pakistani and Indian brands, and a trust strip promising free delivery over €60, daily restocking and quality checks by the Cosmo team.
Navigation built for a large catalogue
An “All Categories” menu with an icon for each aisle stays on the left: Groceries & Essentials, Spices, Sauces & Cooking Aids, Snacks, Tea & Coffee, Packaged & Canned Foods, Juices, Dry Fruit, Milk & Dairy, Healthcare, Cosmetics and Household Items. The main menu keeps the store’s other jobs one click away: Shop, Our Locations, Blog and Contact. A Trending Products menu highlights popular items.
Search and filters that match how people shop
The search bar invites shoppers to “Search for products, categories or brands”, because many customers arrive knowing the exact brand they grew up with. The shop lists all 1,900 or so products with filters for category, brand and price, sorts by popularity by default, and lets signed-in customers keep a wishlist.

Three languages and WhatsApp on every page
A language switcher offers English, Spanish and Portuguese, so shoppers in Spain and Portugal can read the store in the language they prefer. A WhatsApp button stays on screen for quick questions about stock, delivery or bulk orders.
Delivery and payment people already trust
Orders ship with SEUR, typically within one to three working days, and delivery is free on orders over €60 in mainland Spain and Portugal. Shoppers can pay by credit or debit card, PayPal, bank transfer or cash on delivery, and have 14 days to return an order. Behind the scenes, the store generates invoices and packing slips for each order and connects to Mailchimp for customer emails.
Part 2: Local SEO for 11 stores
Most grocery searches are local. Someone searching “Filipino store near me” in Barcelona wants a store they can walk to today, so every Cosmo branch needed to be findable on its own.
A landing page for every branch
The Our Locations page lists every store with its full address, phone number, a Get Directions link and a View Details button. Each branch then has its own page, with a title such as “Calle Argumosa 22 Ethnic Grocery Store in Madrid” or “Carrer del Roser, 11 Ethnic Grocery Store in Barcelona”. Every store page includes:
- An introduction written for the neighbourhood and the communities the branch serves
- Store highlights, such as bulk-buying discounts for restaurants, multilingual staff and weekly deals
- A photo gallery of the store
- A “Buy Online” section that links to the main shop categories, so a local visitor can also order for delivery

Consistent store details everywhere
The footer of every page lists the store addresses, and the store name, address and phone number match across the location pages. Consistent details help search engines connect each branch to the right searches and maps listings.
Structured data for a grocery store
The site tells search engines, in structured data, that Cosmo is a grocery store and organisation, with its logo, contact email and opening hours.
Pages for the searches each community makes
Different communities use different words. Filipino shoppers search “Pinoy store” and “Filipino grocery”; Muslim shoppers search “halal grocery”; others look for an African or Arabic food shop. The homepage, the store pages and guides such as Where to Buy Halal & International Groceries Online in Spain & Portugal are written around those searches.
Part 3: Ecommerce SEO for almost 2,000 products
Product searches are where an online grocery store wins new customers. Someone searching for “Samyang Buldak Carbonara” or “phool makhana” is ready to buy, and the product page has to be the one they find.
Short, readable product addresses and titles
Every product lives at a short address made from its name, such as cosmocashcarry.com/samyang-buldak-carbonara-120g/. Titles follow one pattern, brand, product and size, so they match the way people search and are easy to compare.
Product structured data with prices, stock and reviews
Each product page carries structured data for the brand, SKU, category, weight, price and stock status, plus customer ratings and reviews where they exist. This makes products eligible for richer search results that show the price, availability and star rating before anyone clicks.
Breadcrumbs, categories and brands
Breadcrumbs such as Home › Noodles & Vermicelli › Samyang Buldak Carbonara 120g show shoppers and search engines where each product sits. Products are grouped into 21 categories and more than 230 brands, giving search engines strong category and brand pages to rank alongside the products.

Content that answers buyers’ questions
The Cosmo blog covers questions shoppers ask before they buy, such as where to find halal and international groceries online in Spain and Portugal, and links readers straight to the products. Google Site Kit is set up on the site to bring Search Console and Analytics data into one dashboard, so the team can see which searches bring visitors in.
The results in Google
Google Search Console, Google’s own record of how a site performs in search, shows how far the store now reaches. In the 16 months from June 2025 to October 2026, cosmocashcarry.com earned:
- 24,200 clicks from Google search
- 4.25 million impressions in Google search results
- An average position of 7.2, on the first page of Google

UberSuggest’s September 2026 data for Google Spain shows the site ranking for more than 1,150 search terms, including these local searches:
| Search in Spain | Monthly searches | Google position |
|---|---|---|
| filipino store near me | 590 | 6 |
| cash and carry barcelona | 140 | 12 |
| filipino grocery store near me | 140 | 13 |
| halal grocery stores near me | 140 | 17 |
| filipino food store near me | 590 | 20 |
| pinoy store near me | 110 | 22 |
Store pages are also starting to appear for neighbourhood searches. The Calle Argumosa 22 page in Madrid, for example, shows up for searches such as “African food shops near me” and “Arabic grocery store near me”.
What Cosmo Cash & Carry has now
- A redesigned online supermarket with about 1,900 products from more than 230 brands
- Delivery across mainland Spain and Portugal, free over €60, with card, PayPal, bank transfer and cash on delivery
- A landing page for each store, built for local “near me” searches
- Product pages with structured data for price, stock and reviews
- The store in English, Spanish and Portuguese
- 24,200 Google clicks and 4.25 million impressions in 16 months, at an average position of 7.2
- More than 1,150 search terms ranking in Google Spain
Lessons for multi-store retailers
- Give every branch its own page with its address, phone, directions, photos and a short story about who it serves.
- Write for the words each community uses. “Pinoy store”, “halal grocery” and “supermercado asiático” are different searches.
- Treat product pages as landing pages: clear titles, short addresses and structured data for price, stock and reviews.
- Put the free-delivery threshold on every page. It answers the first question online shoppers ask.
- Link the stores and the online shop, so a local visitor can order online and an online shopper can find a store.
